Having studied theatre and new media at the Taipei National University of the Arts, Betty Apple now challenges formalities, whether sonic and cultural, exploring the dynamics of seduction and control. In her fierce yet playful performances, Apple often creates sound using obsolete technologies, while also appropriating kitsch objects and consumer goods, such as shopping trolleys or sex toys. The artist has been invited to Mutek (Japan), the Biennale Jogja (Indonesia), HKW (Germany), and Bergen Assembly (Norway) among other festivals and institutions.
