
Switching easily between acoustic and electric guitar, Sharif Sehnaoui specializes in free improvisation, for which he often prepares his instruments to expand their sound spectrum, notably exploring the guitar's percussive qualities. Together with improvising musician Mazen Kerbaj, Sehnaoui co-founded Irijal, an experimental music festival that has taken place annually since 2001 in Beirut.
Tony Elieh is a founding member of Scrambled Eggs, one of Beirut’s most prolific and talented rock bands of the early 2000s. He remained active in the the group until its untimely demise in 2015. He is nowadays a member of improvising experimental ensembles Karkhana and Electric Wormholes. Elieh has contributed to the soundtracks of several Lebanese feature films, including A Perfect Day and Je Veux Voir by Khalil Joreige and Joana Hadjithomas.
Outside of their collaboration for Calamita, Sehnaoui and Elieh have together performed live accompaniment to Lebanese dancer Pierre Geagea’s performance »Mother Tongue.«
