Now living in Berlin, Rad grew up in Iran and France, with a background in percussion through the teachings of Islamic Sufism that still influences her work. My Enemy, My Love, the debut Mentrix album, was released in 2020, presenting a moody, cosmopolitan sound described as »post-immigrant-tribal-pop.« Challenging dichotomies such as East versus West and sacred versus secular, the LP seamlessly merges traditional Iranian instruments and electronic sounds, serving as the backdrop of Rad's subtly captivating voice. It was also the first release on House of Strength Records, a label founded with the goal of empowering women's voices.
