Nairobi-born, Kampala-based Freddy M Njau mixes influences ranging from techno, gqom and trap to soundscapes, deconstructed electronics and traditional pan-African percussion. Also known for experimenting during his live sets and for adapting his sound to the space he performs in, Slikback continues to transform his style, channelling moods and colours into visions via transcontinental dancefloors, notably his European debut at Unsound (Kraków) in 2018, which was highlighted by Resident Advisor as one of the festival's five key performances. That year also saw the release of his EP Lasakaneku, which launched Nyege Nyege Tapes’ offshoot label Hakuna Kulala.

In September 2020, Slikback released the 30-track album ///, including dark ambient improvised pieces as well as collaborations with Polish sound artist Morgiana Hz, German producer and rapper STSK, and Ugandan MC Swordman Kitala. Among his other releases include two collaborative EPs with SVBKVLT artists such Hyph11e and 33EMYBW, a split EP with Soda Plains for PAN, and a track on Houndsooth's Alterity compilation.
