While her band Go Chic has remained inactive in the years since the release of their Peaches-produced second album, Calico has found newfound solo success rocking the DAW, and with her Taipei City club crew, UnderU. Following a steady flow of singles and EPs, Calico dropped her first-full length in October 2020. DJ Mag called Simulation of an Overloaded World »a versatile, futuristic collection of lucid, experimental club music, and it fits the More Time catalogue perfectly with its organic percussive flair.«
The majority of the album’s 11 tracks were created during lockdown and, furthermore, as the artist's response to that period: »This album is an attempt to simulate the world of the future, to create the vision of a post-human scenario, to imagine the next life form that might arise,« says Calico. Sonically, the record expanded her palate, showing strokes of dancehall, kuduro, and gqom that seamlessly blend with traditional East Asian instrumentation. Simulation features a collab with Air Max '97, which MixMag hyped as as a »deeply sinister bass-loaded monster.« The LP was mastered by Sam Interface of R&S Records.
