Awards for his film Invisibles (Kaunapawa) include Best Cinematography in Namibia 2020, Best Short film at SVAFF in San Francisco 2020, and Best short film in Ghana 2021. His film Try was awarded Best Foreign Short Film, Luanda International Film Festival ( 2013), Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Film, Namibian Film & Theatre Awards (2012), while the film Differences was selected for the Audience Choice Award, Wild Cinema Film Festival, (2009).

Haikali's festival selections and invitations include: Durban International Film Festival (2013), Zanzibar International Film Festival (2013), FESPACO (2013), Luxor African Film Festival (2013), Pan African Film Festival of Los Angeles (2013), African Diaspora International Film Festival (2012), Tri continental Human Rights Film Festival, (2011), PAN African Film Festival Cannes (2011), Berlinale Talent Campus 2009. Further work has been selected for film festivals around the world including FESPACO, Cannes in France, Berlinale, PAFF in Los Angeles, DIFF and many more.

Haikali is the co-founder of the Creative Industry Guide (CIG) which is being launched in different countries in Africa and the diaspora. He holds a master’s degree in Film Development. He served as the Chairperson of the Namibia Film Commission (NFC) Board.
