While Maylou Guerra’s first language is painting and cinema, both fueled a deep passion for ethnology and traditional societies. As such, she weaves a delicate mesh of traditional music, bass, noise detonations, cloudy psychedelic dubs, sinuous improvised music, and electronic avant-garde.

Following teen years spent in the soundsystem and club culture of Bordeaux, she evolved as a writer and promoter in the jazz and club scenes of Paris. Sharing tunes as a Rinse France resident, she invited guests such as Stephen O’Malley, DJPete, Waqwaq Kingdom, and Kassem Mosse, while also delivering artworks for labels such as Mathematics and Lavibe. Now based in Berlin, A Cashmere Radio regular – alongside appearances on NTS or Boxout India – her creative and daring sense of selecting and djing is one of a kind. You may have seen her layer all sorts of unconventional and uncompromising beats in the most elegant way at the recent Morphine night in Berghain, Tokyo’s Forest Limits, Freerotation in Wales, Taiwan’s Organik Festival, Intonal in Sweden, London’s Cafe OTO, or Italy’s Terraforma Festival.
