Creating music and exploring the potentials of sound since her childhood, Alejandra Luciana Cárdenas has always had a knack for finding the complex melodics that can be formed from layering instruments and samples. Early experiments with cheap microphones and cassette players eventually blossomed into manifold soundscapes, processed and synthesised to breathe new life between their claustrophobic weavings.
Building deep layers of raw emotion with her complex range of guitar techniques, Cárdenas live is a visceral experience. Between the organic and the synthetic, her worlds are at once familiar and fantastic, creating new and strange associations within the heart and mind. Currently residing in Berlin, her latest album with percussionist Laura Robles, Agua Dulce sees the duo exploring and deconstructing the roots of the percussive cajón drum.
