Working without software limitations, Boris Hegenbart builds his works from the sounds of his daily life. The outsider Berlin composer crafts abstract tapestries of sound sampled by himself and others, mixing found sound and snippets of music with contemporary software and hardware to create for whatever project he’s currently involved in — works that have stretched across installations, theatre, dance performances, video art and ensemble chamber pieces. His avant garde explorations have brought him into the collaborative orbit of – among others – celebrated experimental vocalist and drummer David Moss, percussionist Jan Thoben, and composer and professor Volkmar Klien.

Hegenbart’s practice weaves through many mediums, including AI, sound installations, electro-acoustic concerts and computer performances, compositions for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, theatre, media-art, dance and experimental video works. His continuously evolving practice and inquisitively disruptive methods present a unique world of sound and theory.
