Distilling is the key here, a purification of sound that finds longer, more open spaces blossoming to elaborate upon emptiness, to build a cosmic hymn using the barest and most minimal of elements. Repeating elements rise and fall, inducing a state of hypnotic bliss as they work their way deeper into the mind. Alluring and at times portentous, each new release has seen a dissolution of some previous piece of the sonic puzzle, allowing Föllakzoid to restake newer sonic territories each time. Do more with less; a motto we can all get behind!

Now helmed exclusively by founding member Domingæ Garcia-Huidobro and based in Mexico City, Föllakzoid’s newer releases finds the project expanding deeper into the spheres of clubland. Interwoven with her identity as a queer and trans woman, the Chilean artist builds a bridge from Föllakzoid’s psychedelic rock into a cathartic space for transcen-dance. A forthcoming album V is due for release this autumn via Sacred Bones.
