Obaro Ejimiwe’s travels are reflected in the rich mix of sonic elements he brings together under the moniker Ghostpoet. Operating in the zone between abstract hip-hop, alt-rock, and offset spoken word, the British-born musician, writer, visual artist, and curator skirts genre, flirting with the amorphous and the liminal throughout his work. A Doctor of the Arts, his visual work reflects themes of African spiritualism, colonisation, masculinity, identity, and Black joy, while his recordings have been nominated for the Mercury Prize. He has released on celebrated Belgian label Play It Again Sam and Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings.
