Stretching abstract narratives in strange directions, Reidy treats their compositions as malleable dimensions to be investigated and reshaped. Focusing heavily on guitars, their work for processed and acoustic instruments brings microtonal melodics into visceral places; memories of drone, sound collage, and plunderphonic phantasmagoria might come to mind, yet Reidy is singular in their realm of sound. The tar-blackened landscapes of Americana drawl and sprawl open across vast soundscapes, evoking that sweet nostalgic pain with droplets of futurism streaking the canvas. With releases on Black Truffle and Editions Mego, plus their latest LP Trances now out via Shelter Press, their dark ambient world continues to expand and blossom like a beautiful wound.
