Jazz-trained in Berne and Lucerne, the Swiss artist has a highly skilled ear for sound. Building magnificent and dizzying percussive compositions in often bizarre time signatures, Sartorius surpasses genres to evoke all manner of flavours, from hyper-future industrial techno to lurching-hip-hop instrumentals and full-on brainfux. Fascinated by minute variations, his mind has shaped the fascinatingly trance-inducing record Locked Grooves, with 112 of the same; the audiovisual installation »Depot« crafted for sixteen loudspeakers and screens; and the six-year project »Morphblog« which consisted of daily eight-second loops.
Highly sought for his percussive prowess, Sartorius has collaborated and worked with artists such as Sophie Hunger, Kate Tempest, Matthew Herbert, Dimlite, and Shahzad Ismaily. His upcoming release Hidden Tracks: Domodossola – Weissmies finds him hiking with recording equipment and drumsticks on a hike 4017m above sea level, recording along the way in an ever-minimising natural narrative.
