Phillip Sollmann’s practice brings him into contact with a plethora of sound variations. As a resident DJ at Berghain, he’s mastered the mathematics of space + concussion, his skills as a producer rising from their beginnings in the late 90s under the moniker Efdemin to become some of the most lauded electronics in both big-room clubs and production studios. Having studied Electroacoustic Music in Vienna, he’s one-half of Studio Sollmann-Sprenger, formed in 2017 with producer and composer Konrad Sprenger.
Max Eilbacher is a sound artist exploring the topic across compositions, musical performances, conceptual systems, perceptual choreography, installations, and theoretical sculpture, and frequently utilises speakers and sound waves. Along with his musical project Horse Lords, he’s released on labels such as Editions Mego, Thrill Jockey, RVNG, Superpang, Catch Wave, and Drag City. His highly kinetic compositions, built of swarming synths, washes of noise and voice, and esoteric electronics, are both propulsive and perplexing.
«Kalkül der Form» is the first collaboration between the two sound artists.
