Versed in jazz technique, and a drummer since age 12, Tim Wyskida has refined and strengthened every aspect of his percussive technique, honing it into a monstrous tool to be wielded bludgeon-like with the razor precision of a scalpel. »Heavy« is vastly insufficient to describe the primal, monolithic, and mean-spirited beatdowns he’s given to the hideous, flayed formations of Khanate’s slabs of sonic malignance. A founding member of the doom metal group, Wyskida’s viciously neolithic bashings helped define the project’s majestically ugly hatescapes, raw primitivistic pummelings backed by immense understanding of tempo, dynamic, and improvisation. His work in the legendary avant-garde St. Louis collective Blind Idiot God brings that knack for tempo changes to the fore, both powerful and strange.

Wyskida has worked alongside and in collaboration with the likes of Caspar Brötzmann, Jodis, Insect Ark, Jodis, Downriver, Azonic, Khlyst, and Ginnungagap, as well as collaborating with James Plotkin under the moniker Plotkin & Wyskida. Naturally such gems have been released on similarly-minded oddball labels: Sacred Bones, Southern Lord, Hydra Head, Daymare Recordings, Load, and Drag City, to name but a few. With a music project in his unreleased backlog that includes the acclaimed Taiko drummer Kaoru Watanabe along with Grammy Award winning producer Marc Urselli, expect more pounding in your skull shortly.
