Harnessing sequenced machines, digital samplers, and a plethora of multi-effects, Matthieu Ruben N'Dongo, Tioma Tchoulanov, and Gaëtan Bizien orchestrate a tumultuous convergence between instrumentals and primal, guttural vocals. N’Dongo, whose father comes from Central Africa, draws from the rich culture of that region’s Fang, members of the Bantu peoples. Clawing from deep inside his guts, N'Dongo’s vocalisations oscillate through breathy growls and whispers into thunderous whoops and roars over and under mechanised punk noise and ritual rhythms cranked to a disorienting yet utterly captivating experience.
Released on the excellent DIY label Teenage Menopause Records, their debut LP 𝘈𝘥𝘻𝘪 𝘈𝘬𝘢𝘭 (Eat The Metal) is an Afro-futurist, trans-humanist tale exploring the exploitative mineral theft and the politics of Equatorial Guinea, raging against the colonial machine and finding new states of consciousness. Powerful, pyretic, and unforgettable to witness.
